Kemerton: Western Australia
Derek Gee Installations has been engaged by CSI Mining Services (a subsidiary of Mineral Resources Limited), Monadelphous Group Limited, and CIVMEC, on the Albemarle Kemerton Plant Project, to provide offsite spooling and onsite installation of their project specific GRVE piping. The scope covers GRVE piping on the Pyromet Plant, Hydromet & Utilities, and the Piperacks (as well as remedial works at the Bunbury Wharf) ranging in size from DN25 up to DN500.
Project Background
Albemarle is a leading US speciality chemicals owner which owns 49% of the Talison Lithium Mine at Greenbushes, Western Australia. Talison supplied 30% of the world’s lithium production in 2016, in the form of high quality spodumene, with production planned to double by 2019. The Albemarle Kemerton Plant will initially comprise of a three (3) trains each producing 20,000 tonnes per annum (tpa) LiOH.H²O by 2020. Expansion to five (5) trains will take the ultimate site production to 100,000 tpa by around 2025.
