Darwin: Northern Territory
Derek Gee Installations Pty Ltd worked on the Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities Project in Darwin, Northern Territory from October 2013 until July 2017, working with our Clients; Leighton Contractors / CPB Contractors (on and off site), CH2-UGL Joint Venture (on and off site), JKC, and Laing O’Rourke.
Employing up to 50 FIFO and locals on site and in workshops, we have been involved in pre-spooling and pipe installation of approximately 18 kilometres of underground GRE/GRVE pipe ranging from DN100 up to DN1800mm, carbon steel vent piping, grouting on pit penetrations, hydro testing and set up of trenches. We also supplied fully accredited D5 GRE/GRVE Pipe Fitter Bonder Supervisors and D6 GRE/GRVE Pipe Fitter Bonder Inspectors (ISO 14692-4).
Thanks to the commitment of our employees, we have remained LTI free throughout the project. During our time at the Winnellie Spooling Facility, we were presented with Team of the Month after achieving 97% during a safety inspection.
Project Background
With the 2 LNG processing trains, it is expected to produce 8.9 million tonnes of LNG and 1.6 million tonnes of LPG per annum, along with more than 100,000 barrels of condensate per day at peak.
Gas and condensate from the Ichthys Field will be exported to the LNG plant for processing near Darwin via an 890 kilometre pipeline. Most condensate will be directly shipped to global markets from a floating production, storage and offloading facility permanently moored near the Ichthys Field in the Browse Basin.
