Albemarle has cancelled their Kemerton Expansion Project due to the decline in world Lithium prices, all contracts including DGI’s (with Hatch and UGL) are being terminated early.
UGL have engaged DGI to site install and join GRVE spools on the KEP.
DGI has been awarded the GRVE pipe and fittings supply along with the offsite spooling for Trains 3 and 4 with Hatch, we look forward to the site installations packages coming out.
DGI has been awarded a concrete lining contract with Lynas Rare Earth’s in Karratha, we will be applying a Vinylester based lining with a Armatec Armasil trowel on base coat, and glass reinforced mat to their concrete Primary Leach, Attrition, MgO Neutralisation and AI Removal tanks.
DGI have been awarded contracts with Monadelphous, Civmec, CSI, and Kerman Contracting to shop spool and site install GRVE pipe on ALB’s new two (2) train Kemerton Lithium Plant.
DGI has been awarded a contract to construct GRP tanks for Groote Eylandt by Gemco, the tanks will be fabricated in Tasmania and Western Australia and transported to Darwin to be barged to Groote Eylandt.
After recently completing work on the Spent Tanks on site, DGI has now been awarded the contract for fabrication and installation of the Acid Cooling Towers which will be fabricated at our workshop in NW Tasmania, before being installed on site in Hobart.

DGI has a small crew working on the Western Treatment Plant, Werribee Victoria for CPB-UGL.
After recently completing our contracts with Leighton Contractors / CPB Contractors and CH2-UGL Joint Venture for the Ichthys Onshore LNG Facilities, we have now been awarded a contract with Laing O’Rourke on site for GRE pipe installation, jointing and hydro testing as well as vent piping, wet seals for the pipe penetrations into pits/sumps. We have 9 employees on site for these works, including D5 GRE/GRVE Pipe Fitter Bonder Supervisors and D6 GRE/GRVE Pipe Fitter Bonder Inspectors.
Derek Gee Installation (DGI) have an outstanding history of GRP/fiberglass fabrication and installation projects including Australia’s first desalination plant in Kwinana in Western Australia, the Adelaide Desalination Plant and more recently our largest, the Victorian Desalination Plant at Wonthaggi.
DGI initially worked on the underground pipework assembly for Aquasure, which involves fiberglass lamination and joins for up to 6km for subsurface high pressure pipes. They are also doing all the mechanical works for the Reserve Osmosis building, which includes an extensive and complex pipe assemble task. Up to 40 DGI staff have been on site since September 2009, with work continuing well into 2012.
"We have a long history with Degrémont. We worked with them on Kwinana, as the main fiberglass contractor," said DGI Principal, Derek Gee.
"We employ all out own Quality Assurance inspectors and design engineers and our workforce training is very specific. Our company has third part accredited Quality Assurance to ISO 9001 and comply with current national safety standards."
Since 1995, DGI has been undertaking GRP/Fiberglass fabrication and Installation projects across Australia and internationally for projects including chemical storage facilities, industrial processing plants and mine sites. Their contribution can range from complete Turnkey projects through to installation only and with a large workforce of trained laminators on staff, DGI have the capability to undertake numerous projects concurrently around the country.
DGI’s on site project management includes development of site based specific installation procedures on behalf of client. The company also has capabilities in tank manufacture, testing and installation, both onsite and in-situ; tank lining; ducting; concrete protection; remedial site repairs to plant and equipment; exhaust stacks; reclamation and site demolition.

The monthly "Safe Mates Raising The Bar Inspection" was carried out at Winnellie Spooling Facility in March 2015. The Team achieved an enviable score of 97%. The inspections involves a Right Here, Right Now observation to identify areas of merit & areas for improvement.
